When Tetrads Events approached me on Instagram to see if I would like to take part in their #SaveFoodSaveTime campaign in partnership with The Foodworks Sheffield, I have to admit, I’d not heard of either of them. So, after a little research, I jumped at the chance.
So, what do they do?
Tetrads Events are Sheffield Hallam University Events Management and Experiential Marketing students working to run a campaign for our final year project. They are working alongside Food Works, a local Sheffield company who work to reduce food waste, and serve the community with tasty meals made from surplus ingredients, in exchange for small donations.
They are aiming to increase meal subscriptions for Food Works with our Tetrads events campaign, #savefoodtosavetime, aimed at families within the Sheffield community.
Food Works upcycle surplus and locally grown ingredients into delicious food and drink in their Kitchen. It is then portioned and frozen, ready to collect for those who make a donation as little as £1! What a great way to save yourself time, have great quality food and help the local community.
FAMILY INCENTIVE BAG
When Tetrads Events reached out, they not only kindly offered me three tasty meals to try, but also offered me a Family Incentive bag, which is filled with lots of goodies to keep the family entertained during lockdown (or on rainy days now that we’re seeing the restrictions easing).
Here’s what we got in our bag:
As you can see, it’s such a great selection for all the family:
- A balancing penguin game (games vary from bag to bag)
- A unicorn and pirate mask to decorate
- Foam faces and rockets to decorate
- Pipecleaners, glue, pens, glitter, gem stickers, Graze bars, mints, playing cards, pom poms and lots of little craft bits
- A selection of wordsearches and colouring in pieces for older children
E really enjoyed getting stuck in with all the craft bits – I think she did really well with her unicorn! Plus, even if she doesn’t understand the concept of the balancing game, she enjoys playing with the plastic penguins and trying to put them in the Crow’s Nests! We also realised that the balancing game is quite tricky and would make an EXCELLENT drinking game when we’re allowed visitors again. Although, it may result in some very, very drunk parents!
Obviously, if you’re going to #savefoodsametime, then you’re going to want to know about the food we were gifted too! Our meals included:
- Roasted Lamb Stew with Rice
- Tuna Pasta with Olives, Chilli and Sweetcorn
- Cheesy Macaroni & Salami Sausage.
This is how the meals are collected from the Food Works Sheffield Hubs. There is a such a selection and something to suit every dietary requirement!
We’ll definitely be considering using the Food Works Sheffield again for fresher alternatives to ready meals! Plus, anything that helps us to live a more sustainable life and reduce waste is always a win from me!
